Curacao

Curacao; An Island Paradise

In the southern Caribbean Sea lies Curacao. One of the best kept travel secrets of island life, this beautiful escape takes you on a journey through culture and authenticity unmatched by its sister islands. With less tourist traffic, Curacao offers a more relaxed vacation with all the amenities of the more populated stays.

Christoffel National Park is the island’s most popular tourist destination. Home to the highest point on the land, the hiking and tours are something to see. The park closes early to offer a guided sunset tour that wildly enhances the beauty of our celestial surroundings. Few places around the world have this charisma and character.

Two beaches on the island allow you to wade into the crystal-clear waters and feel the sand between your toes. The island has rocky and sandy wading so water shoes may be needed!

One of the newer attractions is The Amazonia Tour. Going back to its Mayan and native roots, this tour takes you on a journey through the past and introduces you to a strong influence in the present. The temple ruins and pyramids will transport you to a time when civilization was much simpler. This unique experience is both museum and zoo, taking you several places and periods in time at once.

A trip to Curacao sets the stage for some truly wonderful dining experiences. Korral Curacao is an open-air sushi bar under a huge umbrella hut. Across the island sits Déjà Vu, a rustic French bistro inspired restaurant with tons of island fare and charming ambiance. Maybe you’re into vino? There are tons of wineries and wine bars on the island, gathering the plentiful Caribbean flavor with the robust tastes of the world. Whatever the flavor you crave or mood you are in, Curacao has a dining experience for you.

When you need to escape, but don’t want the hustle and bustle of the Nassau or Turks and Caicos, Curacao is there to quench your island thirst. Get moving.

Ireland

Erin Go Bragh

Deep in Northern Europe, the vast beauty of Ireland awaits. From the beauty and rich history of Dublin to the outskirts of Killarney, this country is the place to spend a week or two. If all you know of Ireland is leprechaun lore, you’re missing out.

Among the myriad of museums, lies the heart of some of the most beautiful scenery the earth has to offer. Night kayaking, cycling excursions, and whale watching are just a few of the physical pursuits you can enjoy with your family. There are also miles upon miles of National Parks, hiking trails and sunsets and sunrises that will ease your troubles and pull the breath from your lungs.

Irish food is merely sampled in our American tradition. Corned beef and cabbage isn’t even the tip of the iceberg. The “Tayto Crisp Sandwich” is an Irish staple food. The Journalist on the Run has this to say, “A Tatyo crips sandwich is an institution in Ireland and no trip here would be complete without making one for yourself. All you need is 2 slices of bread, some butter and a packet of cheese and onion crisps. Some call it ‘survival food’, I call it heaven.” (journalistontherun.com) It sounds like a drab, plain snack, but When in Rome, right? You won’t be sorry.  Beyond that, the delectable tastes of this incredible country will knock your socks off and have you running for your camera at every meal.

Arguably the most famous attraction in Ireland is the Blarney Stone. Said to be good luck, “It is believed that whoever kisses the stone is endowed with the gift of gab, great eloquence, or the skill at flattery. It allows the gifted to impart the ability to deceive without offending.” (technogypsie.com) The journey to the stone is not simple, however. Once at the attraction, the visitor is held upside down so they may kiss the stone, which is a little ways down a chasm. The daring who wish to carry its luck with them, have to really trust the “Castle Guards” at the attraction to do this. It’s truly a wonderful experience.

For the Star Wars enthusiast, the filming for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi was set on the shores of Ireland. The beautiful seas and vast peaks and cliffs were perfect for the dramatic scenery needed to effectively tell the VIII’s story. You can take tours of the various filming sites and fill your camera with all the wonders of the Star Wars universe!

Finally, one of the most beautiful sights in this cultural nerve center is watching the Northern Lights. An enigma in themselves, they only appear every once in a while, but it is worth it just to take a chance. The lights have only been visible in the past few years, hailing a number of professional observers and amateur photographers alike.

As you can see, Ireland is truly a rare gem and a trip that should be on everyone’s “must see” list.

New York City

The City That Never Sleeps

There is a reason New York City shows up in so many movies. The atmosphere, fast pace, and sight seeing are idyllic for any vacation. The city has a heartbeat all its own, vibrating and moving in a way that no other can quite match. Whether you want Chow Mein at 5am or a hot Italian sausage at noon, this is the city where it all happens.

New York City is made up of 5 boroughs: Manhattan, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, and Brooklyn. Each borough has its own flavor and history. Manhattan is the most popular, with the shops on 5th avenue as NYC’s biggest pull during the holiday season. Go ice skating in Rockefeller Center, get lost in Central Park, or for the more macabre traveler, visit the spot John Lennon was shot. In this city, the possibilities are endless.

One of NYC’s biggest attractions is Broadway! With so many amazing shows available, there is something for everyone and within any budget. Follow the show with the world famous Sardi’s, where almost every major Broadway star has been. You can take in a movie at one of the art theaters, which show classics like “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Afterward, you can have the greatest dim sum you could ever eat stateside in Chinatown.

Are you a foodie? You have never eaten better. New York City is home to some of the most amazing food you have ever tasted. Celebrity Chefs, cooking shows, and world travelers have all given their many recommendations to this amazing spread. Have one of America’s best cookies (dubbed by many magazines and websites) at Levain Bakery (167 W 74th St). Serendipity 3 (225 E 60th St) is home to the famous Frozen Hot Chocolate and other delicious concoctions brought to you in a chalice fit for 5 people. With this and so many more, your palate will never be more satisfied.

Among some of the greatest sightseeing attractions in the states, NYC is home to the Statue of Liberty. Just walking up to this majestic statue is enough to take your breath away. If you’re lucky, you can take the staircase to the top and look out at the world through this historic landmark. Along with Lady Liberty, you can visit Ellis Island, where so many thousands of immigrants traveled through for a chance at a new life.  Maybe you could catch a glimpse of the past as you walk the marble hallways.

Whatever your tastes, New York has something for everyone. Bring the family, your love, or go by yourself. You won’t be sorry.

Mazatlan

Mazatlan: Leave the City for a Fascinating Day Trip

Like most of Mexico, Mazatlan is a place of natural splendors and inviting destinations. There is a lot to see and do in the city of Mazatlan, but for a real treat, take a day trip outside the city to make your vacation complete.

Mexico seems to be blessed with nature’s beauty, and the area around Mazatlan is no exception. Teacapan is a town that is perfect for those who admire nature. Bird watchers can take a guided boat tour to view the local birds. Nearby, the fishing town of Escuinapa offers pink herons, ocelots, and deer nestled in a natural habitat.

Want some physical activity to take your breath away? You will find a variety of things to do outside of the city. See the area from a bird’s eye view, as you zipline through the air over the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains. The Stone Island Peninsula (it really is a peninsula) can be accessed by boat, and once there, you can kayak, catch a wagon ride, or try horseback riding. And to cool off, there are always sandy beaches to be enjoyed.

Mining is an important part of Mazatlan’s past, and visitors can see mines and mining towns just outside of Mazatlan. The town of Copala mined as far back as the 1500’s. The mining town of El Quelite even has a site that was once a trading post for miners.

Besides mining, there are more historic and other sites in the region. Magnificent architecture, museums, and markets can be found. Many western movies have been filmed in this area, and a movie studio is still in operation. For thrills and transportation, visitors can pass over the world’s highest suspension bridge, the Baluarte Bridge.

Looking for some fun in the sun? The Mazatlan area won’t disappoint you. Just off the coast is Deer Island, where swimming and lounging can be enjoyed in a much less crowded atmosphere than many beaches on the mainland. Visitors can catch a boat to Deer Island and start a fun-filled day snorkeling, kayaking, or playing sports on the beach.

Make your Mexican vacation something special, and take a day trip outside the city of Mazatlan to enjoy history and nature. Or use this time off the beaten path to rest and enjoy the refreshing beaches. Whatever you decide to do, the area is sure to please.

El Salvador

El Salvador; Safe for Travel, and a Wonder to See

El Salvador has many faces for such a small country. One view of this beautiful Central American country has us thinking of tranquil beaches contrasted with active volcanos, creating a picture of nature’s paradise. But another view of El Salvador may make us think of gang violence, drug cartels, and murder in high numbers. But we may want to think twice before making too harsh a judgment, and give El Salvador a chance as a refreshing vacation destination.

In the past, El Salvador has earned a reputation as a violent country. In fact, in 2015, The Guardian claimed El Salvador to be “the world’s most homicidal country.” But that is not the case anymore, as El Salvador is more than just news columns and statistics, and now sees itself as a country of tourism. The people of EL Salvador love their country, and love sharing it with visitors. Plus, with tourism in El Salvador on the rise, the country is well aware that they must provide a safe environment for their guests.

With its breath-taking landscape, traditional culture, and delicious food, El Salvador offers visitors many relaxing ways to enjoy the country. The mountainous regions and coastal waves give a sense of diverse topography, but because the country is relatively small (Central America’s smallest country), you can visit all its regions in a very short amount of time. You can surf on the miles of fun-filled beaches, hike on the volcanic mountains, and explore archeological sites, all in one day.

The capital of El Salvador is more than just an historic area. San Salvador has many historic museums and monuments. There are many historic churches, as well, including the Metropolitan Cathedral and Rosario Church. With its creative architecture and famous design, the buildings of San Salvador provide stunning sights. Walking through the streets of San Salvador provides more to see than just man-made buildings, because the back drop of the city shows the dramatic volcanos that surround it.

The volcanos of the country are certainly a sight to behold. Fodors.com recommends hiking through the volcanic mountain area that runs through the middle of the country. But there are other natural wonders to see in El Salvador, including coffee farms, waterfalls, and rain forests. Take some time to enjoy the countryside of this pleasant land.

We should always be aware of potential dangers when we travel, and while El Salvador is no exception, you can be sure this beautiful little country welcomes you with safe, open arms.

Taiwan

Tainan: Taiwan’s Oldest City is Far from Old

When visiting Taiwan, you will notice that many cities have a unique blend of traditional and modern traits, but the most appealing of these cities may very well be Tainan. Located on the Southwest Coast of Taiwan, Tainan has the cultural charm and the modern-day amenities and activities that travelers seek.

Tainan has many famous and historical sites, including temples and fortresses, that date back over 300 years. Bombing from the Allies in WWII can still be seen in some of the architecture, but most of the city has rebuilt years ago. Sightseers can take in the magnificent views of the many structures in the city while walking, biking, or taking the city bus.

Tainan’s Jia-Jia at West Market Hotel is a modern and chic hotel, and offers guests more than just a luxurious, boutique guestroom.  Designed by local artists, these guestrooms all follow a theme. But there is more to do in this hotel than just enjoy the surroundings. Cooking classes are offered to guests, and those who are not lodging at the hotel. The art of creating local delicacies can be learned and enjoyed. Traditional Taiwanese attire, designed by the hotel’s owner, can also be purchased and worn, so visitors can immerse themselves in the experience of Tainan.

Shoppers will not be disappointed with the scene in Tainan. Hayashi offers high-end goods, and is Taiwan’s oldest department store. In a more modern style of shopping, a multilevel shopping center has something for everyone. Whether you are looking for apparel, jewelry, or food and beverages, there is something for everyone when it comes to shopping in Tainan.

With a population of almost 2 million people, this large city offers so much to her guests. From the traditional Taiwanese culture, to the trendy cosmopolitan scene, this city knows how to capture energy and welcome guests. Switzerland

Switzerland: What to do When you are Not Skiing

Vision of snowy white mountains fill our imagination when we think of Switzerland. And while skiing is a great reason to visit Switzerland, there are still many things to do in seasons other than winter, and they can usually be done at a reduced price. Off-season in Switzerland should not be overlooked, as it gives value to visitors who appreciate diverse options in traveling.

The city of Arosa, Switzerland is a breath-taking resort village in the Schanfigg Valley, known for challenging ski slopes, helpful ski lifts, gorgeous lakes, and exciting hiking trails. Visitors love to spend the evening in the luxurious Tschuggen Grand Hotel before heading out to hike the trails of Arosa. But to further this diverse experience, these visitors can spend their next night camping in the hotel’s teepee experience. This is a great way to get a mix of luxury and nature, all in the same few days.

If a country experience isn’t for you, try the city of Zurich. Best known as the banking capital of the world, Zurich offers visitors much more than the financial scene. There are several urban swimming spots, such as Lake Zurich and the Upper or Lower Letten River, to enjoy as the locals do. Hawaii's Big Island

Hawaii’s Big Island: So Much Diversity in Such a Small Space
The diversity of Hawaii’s Big Island (whose official name is Hawaii) is incomparable to any other state in America, and perhaps to many areas of the world. Only on The Big Island can we experience many terrains in such as small area.

Looking for volcanos can be a fun way to spend a vacation, and The Big Island is the perfect place to do just that. There are miles of trails that lead to volcanoes, as well as steam vents and lava tubes. There is even a volcano that has been erupting since 1983, so there is plenty of activity to witness.

The pleasant, serene beaches of Hawaii are iconic to American dream vacations, but not all of The Big Island beaches fit that image. Some beaches are not fit to swim. Some beaches on The Big Island are made of black sand, getting the color from fragments of lava. There are green beaches, too, most notably Green Sand Beach, which gets its color from large deposits of a semi-precious gem. There are secluded beaches that allow for private time, and beaches that are popular for snorkeling and other beach activities. No matter which type of beach you choose, you can relax while watching the sun set off the Pacific Ocean, admiring the majestic view.

As long as you are in the mood to get wet, there are several waterfalls to visit on The Big Island. The Akaka Falls may be the most popular falls, with a 442-foot vertical drop to the gorge it flows into. There are other waterfalls to visit, some offering activities like ziplines to keep you busy. Whichever falls you choose, you can be sure to enjoy the magnificent views they offer.

See the stars on The Big Island, as there are many remote areas with no lighting, allowing the stars to be more easily viewed. Shooting stars can be found, and constellations are often noticed. Take some time to relax under the clear, peaceful night, and gaze at the stars.

You don’t have to leave the country to visit lush rainforest, peaceful beaches, wildlife, and other awe-inspiring sights. You can find all of this on The Big Island of Hawaii. Call your travel agent to find out how.

China

Jiangsu: Put This One On Your List

The Chinese Province of Jiangsu may just be one of Asia’s most surprising and alluring areas. As historic as it is modern, it offers breathtaking views, engineering marvels, history that comes alive, authentic cuisine, elegant gardens, and thousands of years of culture to be discovered. Jiangsu isn’t usually the first item on most travelers’ destination list, but once you know all there is to see and do, we bet you will want to revise that list.

Located on China’s east coast, the Province of Jiangsu sits on the Yellow Sea, and the famous Yangtze River runs through. There are many large cities in Jiangsu, including Wuxi, Nanjing, and Yangzhou. It may not be China’s most well-known area, but for many years it was the capital of China, and today many people still visit to find solace in the tradition, and adventure in the contemporary style of its cities. Jiangsu struggles for recognition, as visitors across the globe tend to think of Beijing of Shanghai when making plans to visit China. But the informed traveler will find the remarkable gifts that Jiangsu has to offer, and will be sure to make the trip there.

Jiangsu has many historic sites, as one would expect; among these, perhaps the most visited is the Niushou Mountain Scenic Spot.  The Buddhist heritage is still very strong in Jiangsu, despite China’s government. People still flock to the Niushou Mountain Scenic Spot, which is home to the Usnisa Palace, Usnisa Pagoda, and Usnisa Temple. Here, visitors can pray and pay homage to Buddha. The Usnisa Palace is over 136,000 square meters, and has two overlapping domes, and invites visitors from all over the globe.

There are many exceptional gardens in Jiangsu, most notable The Master of the Nets Garden, originally built in 1140. The area’s culture is highlighted in these gardens, which include walkways, pavilions, and small ponds. Gardens are an important part of Chinese culture, and these gardens are a fascinating way to appreciate that culture. Visitors are always welcome to walk the grounds to truly appreciate all they have to offer.

With all the culture, history, and scenery there is to take in, Jaingsu should certainly be on the list of top places to visit in China. We have only touched upon a few of the many sites to see in Jaingsu, but your Travel Agent can give you full detail and help you plan to trip of your dreams that you didn’t even know you had.

Sicily

Catania; Many Cultures, Many Sights

On the east coast of Sicily sits the ancient city of Catania. Behind it, views of Mount Etna, Europe’s highest and most active volcano, can be seen. The breathtaking scenery of sea and mountain beckons people from far away to visit, but there are many other reasons why they stay.

Catania has a diverse background of culture, and the city comes alive from this diversity. From the food, to the art, to Catania’s architecture, the vast heritage of the city is apparent. Here you can find people from an array of cultures; Roman, Greek, Moorish, and more, and blending these cultures makes for one beautiful and unique city.

Mount Etna could be considered the centerpiece of Catania. There is almost no place in the city where this mountain cannot be viewed. The volcano is still active, and plumes of smoke or a glowing fire can almost always be seen. But there is more to do in Catania than enjoy Mount Etna’s majestic display.

St. Agatha’s cathedral may be one of Catania’s most recognizable landmarks, as this baroque cathedral is located in Piazza del Duomo, a Heritage Site. Many visitors and townspeople alike gather at this piazza, as it features a Roman fountain with an elephant statue. Ancient Roman baths can be found beneath the cathedral, which is said to be over 2,000 years old.

Among other ancient sites in Catania is her Greco-Roman amphitheater, which may be approximately 1,900 years old. This outdoor auditorium is made of black lava rock and is a sight to see. Visitors ae welcome to explore the magnificent amphitheater. But be warned, the Amenano river flows through the theater, which has been known to flood the front of the stage.

With so many sites to visit, people flock to Catania. The religious cathedrals and buildings, and the historical sites are enough reason to visit, but Mount Etna can’t be overlooked either. So spend some time with this diverse culture in a serene a pleasant land. We think you will be glad you did.

Riviera Maya

Playa del Carmen; A Place to be Active

On Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, visitors can be found enjoying the crystal blue shoreline at many relaxing hotels and resorts in various guest-friendly towns. Among those towns are Playa del Carmen. But not everyone wants to spend their entire vacation on the beach. For those who seek out more physical adventures, many activities can be had away from the beaches and resorts, and at Playa del Carmen, the activities are close by.

For the environmentally minded visitor, a trip to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve is sure to be a fascinating adventure. South of Playa del Carmen is the 1.3 million acre plot of protected land that is home to hundreds of bird and animal species, as well as 23 archaeological sites. Visitors can find some lodging in ecofriendly inns and villas, but there are no resorts here. This area is for the natural environment. There are  activities here besides seeing the natural sights, as kayaking, boating and fishing tours can be found.

Also for the environmentally-conscience, the Riviera Maya offers eco-parks. Kantun-Chi is a remote park that brings nature to all the senses, and has areas for swimming and snorkeling. Some areas are remote enough to find a spot to enjoy some alone time to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nature.

The Riviera Maya is known for its clear, sparkling beaches, but there is more than relaxing to be done on them. Kite surfing adds a fun element to any vacation, and Xpu-Ha Beach offers pristine beaches to do just that. With its inviting breezes and natural reefs, a day trip here is sure to take your breath away.

The ancient Mayan city of Coba hosts ruins which are open to the public; some of which can still be climbed. The tallest pyramid, the Nohoch Mul pyramid, is the tallest on the Yucatan peninsula.  Views from the top of the pyramid are awe-inspiring, and some, including Cobo’s two lagoons, can only be seen from the top.

Enjoy all that the Riviera Maya has to give. Spend the time you need to relax at the beach, but when you are ready for adventure, step off the resort.

Mexico's Wildlife

Mexico’s Wildlife
There are so many reasons to visit Mexico; from the lavish countryside to the historic sites to the miles of scenic beaches, we love to take in what Mexico has to offer. But may we give you another reason to travel there? Wildlife. This is just one more reason to visit this beautiful and friendly country.  Nature lovers will rejoice in all the incredible wildlife that can be found in various areas of Mexico.

In Central Mexico, Monarch Butterflies can be found in sanctuaries that preserve the habitat of the butterfly. Thousands of Monarchs migrate to this area every year for the warmer climate, and visitors can see these majestic creatures while walking, hiking, or horseback riding through the sanctuaries.
Of course, the ocean is home to sea lions, whales, and whale sharks. Visitors can observe this sea life on cruises in the Sea of Cortez. These ships offer day-long cruises to admire the ocean’s lovable sea creatures. If you want to get more up close and personal, try kayaking or snorkeling through the reefs or lagoons. Whale shark tours are available and guests can sail for up to six days looking for these water giants.

Land lovers have their share of wildlife to admire, too. In the Sierra Madre mountain range, Tufted Jays can be viewed in the Tufted Jay Preserve. This rare bird is on the endangered list because deforestation caused a loss of their habitat, but tours of the sanctuary are available. So, spend a few hours hiking and birding, and maybe even spend the evening in a lodge near the forest. This is a great way to get in touch with nature.

From giant whales to gentle butterflies, Mexico can show you the beauty of its natural wildlife. This is a good time to visit Mexico and spend some time appreciating the creatures of the country you already know and love.

European Ghost Towns

Ghost Towns: Sites To Give You The Creeps In Europe

As Halloween slowly approaches, we may think of all the creepy places we can visit in America to get us in the spirit of this ghoulish holiday. But what if we want to get spooked outside of the country? Are there other places we can visit that may put the thrill of fear in us? You may be surprised to hear that there are many ghastly ghost towns in Europe that will keep you up at night. Whether it is due to war, or natural disaster, or refuge for the sick and dying, these European ghost towns are sure to send chills down your spine.

What could be creepier than an abandoned leper colony? You can visit one in Greece, on a remote island in Spinalonga. At one point, this island was home to a military fort, but at the turn of the century, the island was used to house leprosy patients. These patients were neglected and shunned around the world, but in Greece, they were sent to this island to live out the rest of their days in a gloomy and isolated existence. However, once a cure was discovered, the surviving patients were treated and left the island, leaving it completely abandoned and untended. But today, visitors can take a guided tour of the island, and even spend part of the day enjoying the scenic beaches.

War has often left behind torn-up country sides and cities alike. But in Spain, there is a town that never rebuilt after the Spanish Civil War. In Belchite, Spain, the battles tore up the city so badly that is was left completely unattended, leaving the desolate, creepy area uninhabited for almost 90 years. Today, it is fenced off for safety, but visitors can take an inexpensive guided tour of the ruins.

War has certainly taken its toll on Italy, too, but for over 20 years, natural disasters had their way with the city of Craco. In the 1960’s many residents of this town relocated because of the many floods, earthquakes, and landslides, leaving the city currently vacant. The city looks so isolated that many filmmakers use it as an opportunity to produce movies that need a lonely, isolated feel. The city is fenced off, but tours are available.

So start making your Halloween plans with a trip to Europe. There are many disturbing sites to see that will provide you with a bone-chilling experience.

Serbia

Serbia: Traveling For Those Who Love to Eat

Traveling brings with it many benefits; meeting new people, seeing new sights, trying new activities, and more. But for some, the best benefit of traveling may be the great food from ethnic countries. While the cuisine may not be the main reason to visit a specific country, it can be a great perk to doing so.

Like many other countries in Europe, Serbia offers a delectable assortment of cuisine. In fact, much of the foods you will find in Serbia are influenced by other European countries. For example, visitors may find that much of the common food found in Serbia revolves around pasta and pastries, as well as other starchy treats that are typically thought to be of Greek, Hungarian, or Bulgarian origins.

But carbohydrate-based delectables are not the only foods you will find in Serbia. Many meats fill the plates of the Serbian people, including grilled meats, minced meats, meatballs, and eggplant stuffed with meats. And if these proteins aren’t enough, sausages, chops, and kebabs are sure to delight. The rural area around the Mlava and Krupajsko rivers produce fresh honey that is popular for Serbians.

There are different types of places in which visitors can enjoy these fine foods. Some restaurants in Serbia are over 200 years old, and offer an historic décor with the character of the country’s heritage. For a more modern twist, chic restaurants with a minimalist vibe can be found. Many restaurants have live music to enhance your dining experience. See your travel agent for a list of popular dining establishments.

Besides fantastic food, Serbia offers visitors many delicious beverages. Serbia’s wine region runs along the Romanian and Bulgarian borders, in the Negotin area. Many vineyards and wine cellars are available for tours, and to purchase wine by the glass or bottle.

For foodies around the world, Serbia may be the right destination. There is plenty to do and see, but for those who delight in cultural food, Serbia is a must for your bucket list.

When travel agents love a vacation destination, you can be pretty sure that it’s a great place to visit. It may surprise you that Croatia is just that place. If you ask travel agents about Croatia, the chances are they will sing its praises. But don’t take our word for it. Here we have several reasons to consider this beautiful Eastern European country.

Located on the Adriatic Sea, the coastline of Croatia is breathtaking in its own right, but there is more to this country than its coastline that allows for fishing, scuba, swimming, and even yachting. The Dinaric Alps are sure to impress hikers and photographers of all levels. The landscape of Croatia will not leave sightseers disappointed.

In addition to its natural beauty, Croatia offers many attractions to satisfy just about any interest. Golfing, shopping, nightlife, and art galleries are all available, and that doesn’t even include the historic attractions, that include Roman ruins.

Restaurants and cafes are everywhere in the cities, and most are locally owned by families who genuinely love to greet their guests. But don’t expect the hurried lunch styles of America. This country loves to relax and enjoy their food and conversation. From coffee to food to drinks, Croatia’s cafes offer something for everyone.

Perhaps you want something a bit stronger to drink. Croatia has many beers and wines at local cafes, and many are sold at the morning markets found in most cities and towns.  These markets also offer pastries, olive oil, prosciutto, fruits, vegetables, and more. These local vendors offer a variety of items, many of which can be sampled.

Don’t worry about your safety in Croatia. Travel agents felt very safe in Croatia, whether taking walks and hikes alone, or enjoying the nightlife with friends. And English is widely spoken there, so English-speaking visitors will have no problem getting directions or asking for help.

WiFi seems to be available everywhere, from bus terminals to inside the buses themselves, even in the parks. But you will want to put your phone away to enjoy the natural sights of this gorgeous country. So, ask a travel agent, and find out for yourself if Croatia is the destination for you. We think you will be glad that you did.

Chile

Chile: What Will You Find?

There are many legends of the ancient times of Chile. Researchers have found man-made mounds in the sand between the ocean and the mountains, and it is still unclear why they are there. As travelers, we are intrigued about this thin strip of mountainous land called Chile, and we want to get to know it as well as possible. Luckily, there are many adventures to be had in this small country, so maybe it’s time to get an itinerary started. Travelpulse.com has many ideas that can help Chile’s travelers cross items off their bucket list.

So, what is there to do in Chile? More than you may know. Of course, the Pacific coastline offers parasailing and coastal fun, but Chile has other waterways that thrill-seekers and leisurely floaters alike will enjoy. The Futaleufu River in Patagonia is sure to provide a list of adventures. The high-speed rapids make for exciting rafting trips, and the river even has Class 5 rapids that are only for the bravest of heart. But for those who desire a more relaxed river experience, the Futaleufu does have a less dramatic section that offers a “lazy river” experience.

But there is more to Chile than awesome water-filled experiences. Skydiving may be perfect for checking out the Chilean scenery from a bird’s eye view. And for those who want to do more than just view the country, the diverse terrain offers many exciting activities to keep you busy. For example, you can create your own personal X Games on a mountain bike with several routes to choose from. Paths vary in difficulty, from a scenic stretch near the Pacific coastline, to the rougher paths that run through steep mountains and foothills. It’s time to get on your bike and ride.

It may be unexpected to find ice in a tropical country like Chile, but there is an actual glacier nestled in an ice field that provides breathtaking views. On the way to the glacier, you can find many ice formations and frozen caves to discover.

Then, of course, there are the mountains. Chile has many mountains, and even boasts the highest volcano in the world. With incredible views and various photo opportunities, this is every mountain-climber’s dream.

So get started on an outdoor adventure that brings you both fire and ice, mountains and oceans, and adventure and awe. The time to visit Chile is now!

Colorado

Colorado Fun: Don’t Overlook Summer

Colorado gives us images of snow-capped mountains that make for great skiing, with visions of renowned ski lodges and resorts. While this image is accurate, there is more to Colorado than just winter activities. The Centennial State can be a summer playground as well. In fact, travelagewest.com claims that more guests visit Colorado in the summer than they do in the winter. So maybe it’s time to see what Colorado can offer us in the summertime.

Those beautiful mountains are for more than just skiing, Visitors to the state can have fun hiking, climbing, ziplining, and even explore the adventure of alpine slides. In addition, the state’s picture-perfect scenery provides us with memorable sight-seeing.

According to travelagewest.com, the U.S. Forest Service finalized a policy which allows ski areas the access of natural resources for summer activities. This has resulted in more year-round tourism, and gives visitors much to do.

These summer activities include The Aspen Snowmass. Originally open for skiing, this area will begin an outdoor adventure in 2018, and will offer ziplining, naturalist walks, and many photo opportunities of the area’s breathtaking scenery.

The Breckenridge Ski Resort has been an established family ski resort for decades, but in 1979, it introduced the Alpine Slide. In the interest of expansion, it now offers zipline tours, climbing walls, and a challenge course.

Copper Mountain has many activities for families, such as minigolf, bumper-boat rentals, go-karts, and much more. There are also many local events in the area for kids and adults, and more are added all the time.

Steamboat Springs has so much to see and do, they offer a bucket list for guests to help plan their adventures. Roller coasters, steamboat boat adventures, hiking and more will entertain visitors, and the list of experiences are sure to keep them coming back.

Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City: For Those Who Love The City Life

For those who like the hustle and bustle of city life, Ho Chi Minh City may be for you. Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon, is, unsurprisingly, the largest city in Vietnam. There is so much going on here, visitors may feel overwhelmed upon arrival. But once the shock of motorbikes passing by and cars with drivers who seem to really like honking their horns wears off, there is much to appreciate in this metropolitan area.

Finding something to do and see is no problem in Ho Chi Minh City, nor is finding trendy eateries, pubs, and coffee shops. In an article by travelweekly.com, we see that this Vietnamese city has much to offer the curious traveler.

Where to eat: There is no reason to be hungry in Ho Chi Minh City, as the city explodes with the tastes of not only Asian food, but many other ethnic eats. Of course, traditional Vietnamese fare is abundant, but other pan-Asian food is available, as well as Italian-style small plate fare, Dutch-inspired cafes, and American and European favorites.

Perhaps something to drink: Just like other parts of the world, Ho Chi Minh City has a Starbucks on every corner, but there are several other coffee shops to enjoy, including smaller, local shops located on the streets, tucked in corners, and one located on the fourth floor that boasts an adventure just to get there.

What to see: There is much to see in this city, including the War Remnants Museum that features photos and other displays from the Vietnam War. Many river cruises offer excursions that showcase unique views of the city and surrounding areas. Independence Palace, also known as Reunification Palace, offer midcentury design, unchanged since the 1970’s.

Things to buy: Local produce and other food items, as well as keepsakes and souvenirs of the city can be found at the Ben Thanh Market. There are also several storefront shops throughout the city.

How to get around: When visiting this fast-paced city, travelers may decide to take a break from walking and rent a scooter or take a cycle rickshaw tour around the city.

Stay awhile: No need to leave Ho Chi Minh City too quickly, as there are hotels for every budget, including the Reverie Saigon which has an upscale, European feel.

Visiting Southeast Asia shows visitors how diverse the area can be, but once in Ho Chi Minh City, there is no doubt that you are no longer in a quiet rural area. Take in all the city has to offer, and enjoy the sights and sounds of this amazing place.

Normandy

Normandy: A Place of Remembrance

Most of us think of World War II when we hear the name Normandy, and with good reason. Home to the largest amphibious assault in history, the invasion of Normandy will forever be a large part of history. But this region in Northern France offers more than just a rich history; it offers a magnificent present that respects its past. Travelweekly.com sums up why Normandy is the perfect vacation destination for history buffs and modern day travelers alike.

With Normandy’s extensive history, it is no wonder there are so many museums. The Archbishop’s Palace in Rouen is best known for the palace in which Joan of Arc was sentenced to death. Today, it pays tribute to the saint with tours that include audio guides, prearranged tours, film clips, and actor portrayals of the trial. In addition, art work can be appreciated as visitors tour the palace.

For those who like more recent history, two museums offer visitors history and experience of D-Day at Normandy. Dead Man’s Corner Museum opened in 2015 in a hanger to house the artillery, aircraft, and machinery used in the campaign. Visitors can get a first-hand feel of the aircraft, as “rides” mocking paratroopers on a C-47 are available.

The Civilians in Wartime Memorial in Falaise opened in 2016 and displays scenery of the war from a civilian’s point of view of WWII. Ruins of houses that were bombed by allied forces are open for touring.

Besides the historical sites, Normandy offers visitors modern day activities as well. The Lawn Tennis Club of Deauville opened in June of 2016, and is home to the first grass court tennis club in France. Deauville also offers the 1912 Normandy Hotel, which reopened in 2016. This luxury hotel now accommodates 271 guests after its renovation.

Fishing boats in the harbor give visitors of Normandy a modern day feel and the nostalgia of years past. Be it history or outdoor activities, this coastal area in Northern France may provide a vacation to be remembered.

Slovenia

Slovenia: You don’t want to miss this.

When considering European vacation destinations, we don’t usually think of Slovenia. But don’t overlook it-- we believe there may be plenty of reasons to put Slovenia on your must-see list.

Slovenia is the hidden treasure of Europe; and by hidden, we mean both geographically and metaphorically. It is bordered by Italy, Hungary, Croatia, and Austria. While it is on the far north of the Adriatic Sea, very little of Slovenia’s land is on the shore, giving very little coastline. But don’t be fooled; Slovenia is as impressive as its neighbors.

Travelpulse.com mentions several reasons to go to Slovenia, and several things to see and do. Among them are the topography, and the diversity of it. From mountainous regions to rolling hills, there is plenty of beautiful landscape to admire. The Karst region has caves for exploring, including Postojna Cave Park and Skocjan Caves, which have a river that runs through the cavernous rooms. In the northern part of the country, tourists can view the Austrian Alps, and maybe even try their famous ski jumping activities.

When it’s time to eat, you will have plenty of varieties to choose from. With Slovenia being so close to Italy, you can expect plenty of Italian food, including pizza, risotto, and pasta. Despite that Slovenia has very little coastline, it still offers plenty of seafood such as sardines, clams, octopus, and even sea urchins, for curious foodies. What to drink with these delicious meals? Slovenia has its share of small wineries for your refreshment. You can even take tours of the wineries, and converse with their owners.

For your physical activities, Slovenia won’t let you down. There are many trails between villages, and even some that run alongside the shores, that allow for enjoyable hiking. If hiking isn’t your thing, there are various scenic drives to take. And to relax, there are several hot springs within the country.

Still need to be convinced that Slovenia is a great vacation destination? It might help to know that because it is still a relatively unknown tourist spot, prices on car rentals, hotels, activities, and food are quite affordable.  Your travel agent can get quotes and prices for you.

It is clear that there are many reasons to visit Slovenia. From the scenery to the activities, the food to the wine, Slovenia could be the affordable, comfortable vacation you have yet to discover.

Olympics

Paris And Los Angeles Set To Host The Olympics

Where will you travel to see The Olympics: Paris or Los Angeles?
Every four years, the world gets together to see The Summer Olympics. Participants and spectators travel to the city that hosts the event to compete and cheer on their country’s team. The Olympics have become more than just the event’s destination; it is a way to travel to other lands in the spirit of competition. During these events, patriotism and sportsmanship go hand-in-hand with travel and tourism.
Every four years a new city hosts the event. These host cities are determined well in advance by the International Olympic Committee. But the 2024 and 2028 Olympics are still in question as to where they will be held. Both Paris and Los Angeles have been chosen for one of these two years, and the two cities have been asked to decide amongst themselves to determine which city will host which year. The International Olympic Committee will then ratify the decision.
It is anyone’s guess which city will host which year, but according to TravelMarketReport.com, insiders predict that Paris will get to host the Olympics first, in 2024. Many believe this will help tourism in Paris, who is dealing with a slumping industry in light of terrorist issues in recent months.

Once the International Olympic Committee has decided which city will host first, it is important to book travels plans quickly. Both cities state that they currently have about 90% of the travel facilities needed to host the event, according to TravelMarketReport.com, but those facilities will fill up soon after the announcement of the dates.

Ireland

2017 Tourism Trends: Ireland

Have you ever dreamed of experiencing Irish culture firsthand? If so, you’re in good company. In a recent Travel Pulse article, Donald Wood reports that tourism in Ireland has grown this year. Wood cites an Irish Times article in which statistics from the Central Statistics Office of Ireland show that the country welcomed 943,300 visitors this May, as well as a 3% increase in visitors from January to May compared to those months in 2016. Markets of growing interest to the Irish tourism industry are North America, Europe, and Australia.

2017 has seen a 23% rise in visitor numbers from North America—a priority market for holiday travelers and tourist spending—per Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland. On the other hand, Tourism Ireland shares that visits from British tourists have decreased by 6.8%, which is partially attributed to Britain’s choice to leave the European Union. According to its CEO, Tourism Ireland is aiming current marketing efforts toward tourists wishing to learn more about Irish culture. Wherever visitors come from, tourism is vital to Ireland’s economy—as about 281,000 residents of the Republic of Ireland make their living from tourist spending. So if visiting Ireland is on your wish list, now may be the time to make that wish come true.
